Three NCAA marks, 11 qualifying times highlight day two of LSC Outdoor Championships

ANGELO— Tarleton Track & Field wrapped up day two of the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships and had three athletes post NCAA provisional marks, and eleven qualify for Saturday’s finals.

The TexAnns are currently sitting in sixth-place overall after the second day of competition, while the Texans are in seventh.

Lisa Flores placed fourth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:58.82, Esmeralda Fuentes followed behind to secure fifth in a time of 40:02.40. Emily Ayers also scored for the TexAnns in the race when she clocked a 41:18.36 to finish eighth.

Robbie Clarke scored 4,479 points and posted a provisional mark in the heptathlon and came in fifth at the Championships. Taylor Richards rounded out the top-eight finishes for the women’s finals on day two. Richards ran a 12:07.18 in the 3000-meter steeplechase and finished eighth in the race.

Kara Bickham, Kamrynn Schiller, Kylee Ponder, and Jasmine McQuirter set qualifying times in the preliminaries to earn a spot in day three competition. Bickham finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.59, Schiller finished fifth in the same race with a time of 1:03.65. Ponder ran a season-best 57.45 to finish eighth in the 400-meter dash. McQuirter also saw a season-best on the day, as she finished eighth in the 100-meter dash in 12.27.

For the Texans, Quenten Lasseter (32:15.91) finished seventh in the 10,000-meter run. Dalton Stidham, Zachary Martinez, Anterius Brown, Jamel Anderson, Michael Simcho, and Brandon Reasoner finished with qualifying times in the preliminary rounds that will see them a spot in the finals on Saturday.

Stidham qualified and boasted a provisional mark in the 110-meter hurdles (second-place, 14.18), and the 400-meter hurdles (fourth-place, 53.29). Martinez (48.06) and Brown (48.17) finished seventh and eighth in the 400-meter dash. Anderson clocked a 10.78 in the 100-meter dash and finished seventh. Simcho (sixth-place, 1:53.66) and Reasoner (eighth-place, 1:54.33) rounded out the qualifying performances with their efforts in the 800-meter run.

Day three of events will begin with the women’s javelin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the women’s long jump at 1:00 p.m. All running finals will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the women and men’s 400-meter relay.
