TexAnns finish 4th at NCAA West Regional, Wild advances to NCAA Championships

DURANGO, Colo. – No. 13 Tarleton Women’s Golf finished fourth at the NCAA Division II West Regional at the Hillcrest Golf Club.
The TexAnns improved their score for the third straight day, finishing with rounds of 313-309-306—928 (+64). Dallas Baptist won the regional with a score of 901 (+37). Also advancing to the NCAA Championships are West Texas A&M with a score of 907 (+43) and California Baptist with a 909 (+45).
The top three teams and top three individuals from non-qualifying teams advancing to the NCAA Championships at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston on May 16-19.
For the second straight year, Casey Wild will advance to the NCAA Championships as an individual after placing fifth overall with a score of 225 (+9). Wild was two strokes off the lead, held by Holly Winter (WTAMU) and Kate Goodwin (OCU).

Wild shot 1-over par on the final day to move up two spots and finished with rounds of 74-78-83—225 (+9). The senior from Australia tied for the team lead with seven birdies in the tournament to go with a team-high 32 pars.
Sarah Gee moved up 12 spots on the individual leaderboard to finished 10th after carding the best round of any TexAnn in the tournament. Gee shot even par on the day, recording rounds of 81-75-72—228 (+12). Gee’s round was highlighted by an eagle on No. 3, a 506-yard par-5 when she sank a six-foot putt. The senior from England also had seven birdies in the tournament and 29 pars.
Junie Khaw tied for 34th with a score of 235 (+39), while Casey Leatherman added a 241 (+25) to tie for 42nd and Breanna Smith shot a 245 (+29) to tie for 54th.
This was the 12th straight season the TexAnns advanced to the NCAA West Regional Championship after they won their 11th Lone Star Conference title in program history.
