STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton Athletic Communications staff received eight national awards from College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for their media guide publications from the 2017-18 year.
“I’m extremely proud of the work that comes out of our athletic communications department,” said Athletic Director Lonn Reisman. “That department is responsible for so many areas within our athletic department and their work ethic is second to none. Tarleton is currently growing at a historic rate and they do a tremendous job of bringing visibility to this university on a national scale. It’s nice to see their hard work recognized on the highest level.”
Tarleton Athletics received six ‘Best in Nation’ awards and two second-place finishes for media guide submissions. The football media guide, which has received top national honors in two of the last three years, was not graded due to issues within the committee.
The men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and volleyball media guides were named ‘Best in Nation’ while the baseball, men’s basketball, and volleyball guides were awarded ‘Best Cover’. The baseball and softball media guides were named second-best in the nation. It’s the first time in school history that the department has received recognition for the baseball guide and it’s the first time in school history to earn ‘Best in Nation’ honors for women’s basketball and volleyball.
Tarleton’s eight awards ranked them fourth in the College Division, which ranks all schools below NCAA Division I, and tied for the ninth-most awards in the nation between the College and University Division. The eight awards tied Tarleton with Michigan State for the ninth-most awards in the nation.
Last year’s Athletic Communications staff was Nate Bural, Ryan Cox, and Savion Washington. The media guides are available to see online at TarletonSports.com.
