No. 13 Tarleton travels to Angelo State for LSC showdown

AT A GLANCE
No. 13 Tarleton has another tough road test at hand as they’ll travel to San Angelo to face Angelo State on tonight at 7 p.m. match. Tarleton enters the match undefeated and atop the Lone Star Conference standings at 12-0 while Angelo State is tied for second place at 10-3. The TexAnns enter the match with a program-record 17 straight wins while Angelo State has yet to lose in the Junell Center this season with a record of 9-0 at home.

NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
Tarleton moved up two spots to No. 13 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. Tarleton is one of two Lone Star Conference schools in the top 25, joining Texas A&M-Commerce who is ranked 22nd. Tarleton has been ranked in every poll since the final ranking of the 2016 season, which is 24 consecutive weeks in the national spotlight.

ABOUT TARLETON
Tarleton enters the weekend leading the way in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 20-2 record overall and a 12-0 mark in the league. Tarleton is also among the national leaders in blocks per set (3.05) which ranks second in the nation and also the conference leader in hit percentage (.242). Adriana Darthuy leads the team with 233 kills while Hannah McManus, a two-time LSC Defensive Player of the Week, ranks second in the nation with 1.47 blocks per set. Blanca Izquierdo, also a two-time LSC Setter of the Week, is leading the team with 449 assists and Adrianna Knutson leads in digs with 356.

DIGGING FOR A MILESTONE
Adrianna Knutson, Tarleton’s senior libero, is currently chasing down the all-time mark for digs at Tarleton State University. Knutson enters this weekend with 1,772 career digs and recently passed Emily Klein (1,656) for No. 2 in program history. She is 76 digs away from passing Shea McBrearty (1,847) for the all-time lead.

CRACKING THE TARLETON TOP 10
Hannah McManus is making her own history at Tarleton as the senior middle blocker enters the weekend having recently passed Lacey Adkisson for sixth place on the all-time total blocks list with 352. She is also second all-time in assisted blocks with 291 having recently passed Kenya Alexander. McManus needs 44 assisted blocks to pass Marissa Galich (334) for first on the all-time list.

SERIES HISTORY: ANGELO STATE
Tarleton and Angelo State are meeting for the 53rd time in program history since they first met in 1978. Angelo State leads the all-time series at 35-17, but Tarleton has won the last two matches against the Rambelles.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will return home for homecoming week to take on Eastern New Mexico on Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. and West Texas A&M on Saturday, Oct. 20 at noon.
