One dead, one arrested in hit and run on FM 219

DUBLIN (October 19, 2018) – One woman is dead and a young man is behind bars after tragedy struck on FM 219 near Dublin Thursday night.

At approximately 10:39 p.m. first responders were dispatched to a report of a woman lying in the roadway on 219. Upon arrival, they discovered 36-year-old Isabel Cristina Macias of Dublin unresponsive, called for Justice of the Peace Bart Greenaway and notified area law enforcement to be on the lookout for a maroon Denali pickup believed to be involved.

Within hours of the incident, Erath County Sheriff’s Deputies had Raul Jimenez, 22, who was born in Mexico, in custody for intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle.

According to ECSO, Jimenez is being held in the Erath County Jail on $500,000 bond and an ICE hold. A release stated, “During the course of the investigation, it was found the deceased was (new factors in the investigation has led ECSO to retract the word intentionally from their original statement) struck by a motor vehicle.”

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the troopers who arrived on scene called the Texas Rangers in to help them investigate the accident. A spokesman for the troopers thanked all the first responders, troopers and sheriff’s deputies for their assistance and hard work in finding Jimenez.
