Doty, Mosqueda win LSC Runner of the Week Awards

STEPHENVILLE – Kyle Doty and Nicholas Mosqueda were named Lone Star Conference Runners of the Week for their performances at the ASU Blue/Gold Classic on October 23.

Kyle Doty received Lone Star Conference Male Runner of the Week for his impressive performance at the ASU Blue/Gold Classic. Doty had the best outing of his career Tuesday evening as he won the ASU Blue & Gold Classic with a commanding lead. This is Doty’s first career victory as a Texan. The freshman from Bruceville-Eddy High School helped lead Tarleton to their third straight team victory as they won the meet by twenty-seven points. Doty was the top finisher in the 8,000-meter course running a time of 25:44.80, which was almost 10 seconds faster than the second-place time.

Nicholas Mosqueda received Lone Star Conference Male Freshman Runner of the Week. Mosqueda had his best performance of the season on Tuesday as he finished second overall at the ASU Blue & Gold Classic. The freshman from North Mesquite had his top finish of the season as well as his best time in the 8,000-meters, running a time of 25:54.00. Mosqueda’s 17-second improvement helped lead the Texans to their third straight team victory.

This the first Lone Star Conference weekly award received by Kyle Doty and second for Nicholas Mosqueda.

Tarleton will compete in the Lone Star Conference Championship hosted by West Texas A&M on November 3.
