DUBLIN (October 27, 2018) – The Dublin ‘Safe Trick ‘R Treat’ will be on Wednesday, October 31, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in downtown Dublin.

The Dublin Lions Club will provide crossing guard assistance for Trick or Treaters as they visit downtown businesses.

From 3 to 4:30, the Dublin Golden Age Healthcare Residence at 704 E. Dobkins will be handing out candy.

There will also be a large group gathering and Spook Parade at Three Oaks Assisted Living (118 E. Live Oak in the parking lot) with hot dogs and chips handed out at 6 p.m. provided by First Baptist Church and BMY (Boucher Morgan and Young) with one hot dog per person with ticket until gone.

“We have a gathering in Dublin for Trick or Treaters every year that is enjoyable for business owners, Dublin Residents and community children,” said Luanne Schexnider, executive director of Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center. “This is a wonderful way to bridge the gap between children and the elderly and an excellent way for community kids to meet Dublin friends in Commerce.”

Schexnider said that the Dublin Chamber is expecting a large group of kids Trick or Treating again this year.

“Sometimes we have 500 plus [children], depending on the weather and flexibility with other activities and kids’ schedules. Children are also encouraged to Trick or Treat in their neighborhood until 8:00 p.m. as long as there is a porch light on,” Schexnider said.

There will also be a costume contest that was organized and will be judged by the Dublin Citizen staff.

“Parents will submit photos to the website or email and winners will be announced in the Citizen the following week and photos posted on their Facebook page. The Citizen will have a photo op/booth on the Dublin Corner Lot for parents to capture their Halloween spooks, then submit for contest,” Schexnider said. “The Dublin Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center will sponsor the costume contest with Dublin dollar prizes.”

If interested in entering your child in the costume contest, please send photos of your children in costume to the Dublin Citizen Facebook Page in a message or in an email to publisher@dublincitizen.com.

Please include their name, age and contact info. The deadline for submission is midnight on Oct. 31.
