TexAnn Basketball set to officially get under way this weekend at Tip-Off Classic in Wisdom Gym

THE GAME
After two warm-up exhibitions last week, the Tarleton Women’s Basketball team will officially begin their 51st season of competition at home for the Tip-Off Classic in Wisdom Gym. The TexAnns, who enter the fifth season under the leadership of Tarleton Hall of Famer Misty Wilson, will begin the season Friday at 5 p.m. against Rogers State before welcoming region rival St. Mary’s to town Saturday night.

GAME PROMOTIONS
There is a full slate of basketball promotions this weekend. On Friday, Tarleton Basketball will recognize the university’s registered student organizations as well as giving away free basketball posters while supplies last. There will also be a dash-for-cash at halftime, allowing select fans to win free money. Saturday is Military Appreciation and all members of the military and immediate families will receive free admission. It will also be Tarleton’s first ‘Texan Two-Step’, which allows anyone who purchases a football ticket to receive free admission into the basketball game.

TARLETON SPORTS NETWORK
A complete radio and video broadcast of the game can be heard and seen on the Tarleton Sports Network presented by the North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the TexAnns, Kyle Crews will have the call on the flagship station of Tarleton Athletics – KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville – and worldwide at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. TICKET INFORMATION
The Tarleton State Ticket Office is open from 1:30-4 p.m. in the main lobby of Wisdom Gym and can be reached by telephone at 254-968-1832. Cash, check, and cards are all accepted. Tarleton’s Stephenville Campus Students receive free admission to all home games with valid Stephenville Campus Student ID.

INSIDE THE SERIES: ROGERS STATE
This will be the first meeting between Tarleton and Rogers State. Rogers is a member of the Heartland Conference and will be joining the NIAA next fall.

INSIDE THE SERIES: ST. MARY’S
Saturday will mark the 21st all-time meeting between the TexAnns and Rattlers since 1979. St. Mary’s holds a 14-6 lead in the series but Tarleton got the better of the last meeting in last year’s F&M Bank Tip-Off Classic with a 59-56 win to close out the tournament.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will hit the road for a California road trip next week as the TexAnns visit Biola on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Cal Poly Pomona Saturday at 3 p.m.
