If you want to avoid the wait in line for tickets to Stephenville’s high school player football game Friday you can buy your tickets online as no tickets are being sold locally due to the Thanksgiving holiday break.
The Yellow Jackets matchup against Celina for the first time in their storied histories in a game between two teams that have a combined 13 state championships. Celina has eight state title trophies while Stephenville has five and both sides would love to get an area-round win over the other.
Celina (6-4) has had an up-and-down season with three colossal shutout wins over Memorial 53-0, North Lamar 45-0 and Anna 42-0. The Bobcats also smacked around Sanger 50-7, but they have also been spanked around themselves including a 63-21 loss to Argyle.
That Argyle score, of course, brings a twinkle of joy into Stephenville football fans hearts as the Jackets lost also lost to the Eagles 45-35, but it was a game much tighter than the score. Stephenville’s 35 points were also the most points rang up against Argyle’s 11-0 defense this year.
It’s an almost certainty the winner Friday will advance for the honor of once again facing the Eagles who are matched up against a streaky 6-5 China Spring team.
