DUBLIN (December 15, 2018) – Communication is a great thing, especially when you’ve got someone on the run.

Dublin PD proved how valuable having officers in the area and good communication can be this past weekend when they were able to find and arrest a hit-and-run driver.

According to the police report, dispatchers received a call about a reckless driver in the area of Hurt Street and Clinton Street late Friday night. Dublin PD Chief Bobby Mendez said two officers were already patrolling the area and were notified to look for the suspect vehicle. Officer Kristopher Jennings was able to locate a vehicle matching the description. However, the driver attempted to elude him when he turned around on it.

Jennings was able to pull the vehicle over on Eagle Street and while he was doing that, a report of a hit-and-run in the same area came in to dispatchers. The description of the suspect vehicle was the same as the vehicle with Jennings.

Officer Jennings arrested James Lewis Brandon Richardson, 35, for driving while intoxicated, a second offense and an accident involving damage to another vehicle. He was booked into the Erath County Jail on those charges as well as a charge for assault against a government contractor because he assaulted a jailer.

The victim in the hit-and-run accident said he appreciated the help from Officer Jennings in finding and arresting Richardson.

“Our officers did a great job by getting there quickly, apprehending the impaired driver and protecting other drivers out on our roads,” said Dublin Police Chief Bobby Mendez.

Richardson was booked into the jail on Friday, December 14 and bonded out on Monday, December 17, on a total of $13,000 bond through ACE Bail Bonds in Stephenville.
