Tarleton basketball on biggest road trip of year

THE GAMES
Tarleton will make arguably its biggest road trip of the season to date this week when the women’s basketball team heads to Eastern New Mexico on Thursday and West Texas A&M on Saturday for league play. The TexAnns enter the road trip with a 10-4 record on the season, including a 3-3 mark in LSC play, and will square off with two of the other top teams in the LSC standings – ENMU (10-4, 5-1 LSC) and WT (13-1, 5-1 LSC).

A complete radio broadcast of the games can be heard on the Tarleton Sports Network presented by the North Texas Ford Dealers. THE LAST TIME OUT
A run of four games in seven days to open the new calendar year ended on a high-note for Tarleton as the TexAnns blasted Texas Woman’s 79-41 Thursday night in Wisdom Gym. McKinley Bostad led the way with 20 points on 8-9 shooting from the floor, including 4-5 from beyond the arc. She also had five assists and three rebounds. Kaylee Allen poured in 15 points while Mackenzie Hailey scored 13.

WILSON EYES 300
Misty Wilson is eyeing a coaching milestone of 300 wins at Tarleton. With her next victory, Wilson will amass 300 victories over her 18 seasons as the assistant coach and head coach.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ALUMNI WEEKEND

INSIDE THE SERIES: EASTERN NEW MEXICO
Tarleton and Eastern New Mexico boast a 49-game history since the inaugural meeting in 1980. The TexAnns have won 33 games all-time against the Greyhounds, formerly named the Zias. Tarleton is 13-9 all-time in Portales and have won 29 of the last 35 meetings dating back to 2001, including 19 straight from 2008 to 2016.

INSIDE THE SERIES: WEST TEXAS A&M
Tarleton and West Texas A&M have met 50 times in their history, including one prior to Tarleton’s NCAA era. The TexAnns won the first-ever meeting on Jan. 27, 1978 when the TexAnns defeated the Lady Buffs 79-73 in a home tournament. WT won 26 of 30 meetings from 1995 to 2010 but the TexAnns have won seven of the last 19 meetings since 2011.
