Blanche Dornan, 103, formerly of New Cumberland, WV, passed away at her son’s home in Stephenville, TX, Monday, January 28, 2019.
Blanche was born on August 2, 1915, in New Cumberland, WV, to John and Ada Gibson. Blanche was a homemaker and loved her home. She decorated her home with such beautiful furnishings, that once, a young boy visiting with his mother, asked if they were in a gift shop. Blanche was also a wonderful cook and baker. Her family loved her rolls, sugar cookies, and apple pies.
Blanche is survived by her son, Robert “Skip” Dornan, of Stephenville, TX and his wife Eve, grandchildren, Stacey George of Stephenville, TX and husband Ron, Jody Auvenshine of Comanche, TX, and husband Schonny, Matthew “Blu” Dornan of Stephenville, TX, and wife Tiffany, great granddaughter Tiffany Golightly of Dublin, TX, and husband Jaremy, a brother Jack Gibson of New Cumberland, WV, niece Rone Poling of New Cumberland, WV, and husband Ted, many nieces and nephews, and other extended family.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne “Snook” Dornan, two brothers, Jim and Bill Gibson, and four sisters, Alice Chambers, Anna Mae Wern, Jane Greenwalt, Edith Jester, and Ruth Schuman.
At Blanche’s request, there will be no funeral services. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in New Manchester, WV, on Saturday, February 9, with a private family service.
