The Texan Stars Alumni Chapter will be hosting a Gift Market (our 3rd annual) on Saturday, February 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the TSC Ballrooms. There will be vendors of different kinds available to the public for some unique Valentines Shopping.

This year the focus is on honoring Chapter President, Marily Considine who is battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer. The event has been renamed the “Love, Love, Love You Always Gift Market”, after a phrase she uses regularly to express the sincere appreciation to those who have supported her and her family through this struggle.

In addition to vendors who will be selling merchandise, there will be a wonderful organization known as the Pink Warrior Angels. They provide support services to cancer survivors who have military connections and their families and have been a huge blessing to Marily and her family. They have come to love the Stephenville community, even though they are based out of Copperas Cove, and have been a mutual supporter of the Texan Stars Alumni Chapter since its inception.

Marily founded the Texan Stars Alumni Chapter in 2016 just prior to her diagnosis and subsequent treatment. The Texan Stars Alumni Chapter is an affinity chapter of the Tarleton Alumni Association. They provide support to the current team members through dinners, small gifts, graduation stoles and really mentoring and making personal connections because “we understand what it means to be a team and work many long hours away from the support of their families. We try to be a home away from home to the team members, and an extension of their own families. That means supporting our own when they need it too, as with Marily.”

With funds from this event, the organization hopes to be able to continue to support Marily and her family with meals and assistance as well as provide support for the Texan Stars Dance Team as they return to the National Dance Association National Championships in Daytona this March.

Last year the Texan Stars Dance Team won first place in their division, which was the first time in Tarleton history. The alumni said they are proud to be a part of such a unique organization that can foster long-term connections with our student body.
