Texans host Texas A&M-Commerce for crucial LSC game

THE GAMES
Tarleton men’s basketball takes a three-game winning streak to the test against Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. The Texans are two games behind the Lions for second place in the Lone Star Conference.

Each game will have a live radio broadcast presented by the Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The Voice of the Texans Byron Anderson will have the call for Tarleton basketball this season. The Tarleton State Ticket Office is open from 1:30-4 p.m. in the main lobby of Wisdom Gym and can be reached by telephone at 254-968-1832. LSC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS ON SALE
Advance tickets for the 2019 Lone Star Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship are on sale now at LSC member institutions with all-session passes $15 off the regular price until March 5. The LSC Championship will be held March 7-10 at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The event will start on Thursday and conclude Sunday.

ABOUT TARLETON
The Texans are 18-6 overall and in fourth at 8-5 in the LSC on the season. The Texans are averaging 75.8 points per game while holding teams to 67.0 points, which ranks second in the LSC. The Texans shoot 49.1 percent from the floor and 38.5 percent on 3-pointers. Tarleton has three players averaging double figures with Josh Hawley leading all players with 17.7 points. Corinthian Ramsey averages 12.9 points and Randall Broddie puts up 10.5 points a night. Hawley leads the LSC in scoring and rebounds with 9.9 rebounds and has a conference-best 12 double-doubles in 24 games.

ABOUT TEXAS A&M-COMMERCE
Texas A&M-Commerce enters the game 18-6 overall and second in the LSC with a 10-3 league record under second-year head coach Jartet Von Rosenberg. The Lions, who are 6-3 on the road, average 82.7 points on 48 percent shooting and give up 73.4 points. TAMUC has three players averaging double figures in scoring, led by LSC Preseason Player of the Year Reggie Reid at 15.9 points. Willie Rooks (14.2) and Trey Conrod (11.7) follow in scoring.

INSIDE THE SERIES: TAMUC
Tarleton and Texas A&M-Commerce are meeting for the 54th time since they first played in 1990. The Texans hold the series lead at 32-21. The Lions won the previous matchup this season in Commerce, 76-64, when the Texans were ranked 23rd and the Lions 24th. The Texans are 18-6 all-time at home against the Lions, including wins in seven of the last games in Wisdom Gym.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans will play their final two homes games of the regular season against West Texas A&M on Feb. 21 and Eastern New Mexico on Feb. 23.
