Texans head to LSC Tournament in Frisco looking for fourth title

THE GAME
No. 5 Tarleton is set to open the Lone Star Conference Tournament with a quarterfinal’s showdown against No. 4 Eastern New Mexico Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the Comerica Center in Frisco. This marks the fifth time in LSC Tournament history that the Texans and Greyhounds have faced each other in the postseason, with the Texans going 4-0 in those games.

REGULAR SEASON RECAP
Tarleton finished the regular season 20-9 overall and 10-8 in the Lone Star Conference under first-year head coach Chris Reisman. It’s the 15th time in the last 18 seasons the Texans have won at least 20 games. The Texans average 74.7 points per game on 48 percent shooting. The Texan defense ranks second in the LSC, allowing 67.2 points on 40 percent shooting. Josh Hawley leads the LSC in total points with 506 and rebounds with 209 and is the only player in the LSC to average a double-double with 17.4 points and 10.1 rebounds. Corinthian Ramsey (11.6 points), Jesse Hill (10.5 points) and Randall Broddie (10.2 points) also average double figures in scoring.

TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com, as well as the Comerica Center box office. Single-session tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students (University students with valid school I.D. (any institution) or children ages 2-18). The all-session price is $60 that grants access to all seven sessions.

TARLETON IN THE TOURNAMENT
Tarleton has qualified for the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament 21 times since their first trip to the league postseason in 1997. It is also the 17th straight season that Tarleton has qualified, which is the longest active streak of any men’s team in the LSC. The Texans have an overall record of 29-17 in 44 games at the LSC Tournament with their .630 winning percentage ranking fourth among active LSC teams in the tournament. The Texans are three-time tournament champions (2004, 2013-14).

TARLETON’S PATH
The Texans are the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will open the event against No. 4 Eastern New Mexico on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. With a win, the Texans will advance to the semifinal round for a matchup against either (1) West Texas A&M or (8) Cameron on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The championship game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday against the winner of the opposite side of the bracket that includes (2) Texas A&M-Commerce, (3) Angelo State, (6) Texas A&M-Kingsville, and (7) UT Permian Basin.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will continue playing as long as they win. With a win over Eastern New Mexico on Thursday, the Texans would advance to play the winner of West Texas A&M and Cameron.
