Tarleton Golf in sixth after opening round of LSC Championships

ABILENE – Tarleton Golf is in sixth place after the first round of the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament at the Diamondback Golf Course.

The TexAnns shot a 310 (+26) at the Par 71, 6,009-yard course. Texas A&M-Commerce holds the lead after the opening round with a 289 (+5). As a team, Tarleton recorded 44 pars and six birdies.

Junie Khaw leads the TexAnns with a two-over-par 73 and is tied for sixth place. The first-team All-LSC sophomore shot +1 on the front nine and recorded her lone birdie on the Par 4 No. 16. Khaw posted a team-leading 14 pars in the round.

Raelynn Hardgrave is tied for 19th place after carding a 76 (+5). Hardgrave shot +2 on the front nine and recorded a team-high three birdies with seven pars.

Casey Leatherman is tied for 31st after shooting an 80 (+9). Leatherman had nine pars in the round. Sophie Caldon and Breanna Smith are each tied for 33rd with scores of 81 (+10). Caldon had nine pars and Smith had two birdies with five pars.

Tarleton, the three-time defending LSC Champions, will tee off in the final round at 8:10 a.m.
