The No. 22-ranked Tarleton Softball team is in pursuit of their third consecutive trip to the NCAA regionals and will host No. 6-ranked West Texas A&M for the regular season finale this weekend.

The series begins Friday at 6 p.m. and will close out Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader. The TexAnns have already secured a top-five finish in the LSC standings and enter the weekend with a record of 36-11 and 18-9 in league play.

Tarleton is also ranked No. 4 in the South Central regional rankings with the newest poll set to be released on Wednesday afternoon.

On Saturday, Tarleton will recognize its five seniors – Elizabeth Svienty, Lexi Grimaldo, Amanda Conner, Tanna Huie, and Karli Herron – after the doubleheader. There will also be Steel City Pops available for purchase and free hot dogs.

Jordan Withrow captured one of Tarleton’s most illustrious all-time records last weekend as the junior passed Carla Geeslin for the all-time strikeout record. Georgia Capell, a sophomore, is also well on her way to becoming the program’s all-time home run leader. Capell is eight home runs away from passing Arianna Rodriguez (41) for the most in program history. Capell also topped the single-season RBI record last weekend, becoming the first player in school history to drive in over 60 in a season. She is in pursuit of five more single-season records this year.

Capell is ranked in the national top 10 of five different statistical categories – including No. 10 in slugging percentage (0.888), No. 3 in RBI (55), No. 9 in RBI per game (1.25), No. 4 in home runs per game (0.36) and No. 2 in total bases (119).
