After leading No. 22 Tarleton to five wins last week and breaking the school’s single-season RBI record, Georgia Capell was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week.

Capell was on fire at the plate last week as the sophomore All-American led Tarleton to a 5-0 record with a .583 batting average. Capell had seven hits for the week and scored six runs while driving in a team-high nine RBI, including a grand slam in Friday night’s game that made her the first player in Tarleton history to drive in over 60 runs in a single season.

She slugged 1.250 for the week and enjoyed a .750 on-base percentage. In addition to breaking the single-season RBI record at Tarleton, she is currently in pursuit of five more single-season records and is among the national top 10 in seven different categories, including the national lead in home runs.

Tarleton will return home this weekend for the regular season finale against No. 6 West Texas A&M. Saturday’s doubleheader will be Senior Day and there will be free hot dogs and Steel City Pops for sale.
