Early morning crash involving train kills one

FLASH STAFF REPORT

STEPHENVILLE (July 30, 2019) – Just after 6 a.m. Tuesday, the Stephenville Police Department received a call about a major accident in the 600 block of Caporal Drive at the railroad crossing.

Upon arrival, Stephenville PD officers and Stephenville Fire and EMS found a 2002 Toyota vehicle had been struck by a passing Fort Worth & Western train. The vehicle’s driver and sole occupant, Patrick Sauceda of Stephenville, was found trapped in his vehicle.

Stephenville Fire/EMS attempted lifesaving efforts including extracting Sauceda and transporting him to the Texas Health Resources Harris Methodist Stephenville Emergency Room where he was pronounced dead at approximately 7:30 a.m.

The incident is currently being investigated by Stephenville PD accident investigators along with the staff of the Fort Worth & Western Rail Road.

In a release Tuesday, officials with the department said, the Stephenville Police Department would like to thank the members of the Stephenville Fire Department for their lifesaving efforts.
