Texan Golf in fifth after first round of Oklahoma Intercollegiate

LAWTON, Okla. – Tarleton Golf is in fifth place after the opening round of the Oklahoma Intercollegiate at the Lawton Country Club.

The Texans shot a first-round score of 310 (+26) at the Par 71, 5,985-yard course. Texas A&M-Kingsville leads the 10-team tournament with a 299 (+15) score.

Sofia Rodriguez led the Texans with a 5-over-par 76 and is tied for 10th place. Rodriguez posted 11 pars on the day, which ranked second on the team.

Junie Khaw is a stroke behind Rodriguez with a 77 (+6) and tied for 13th. Khaw matched Rodriguez with 11 pars in round one. Casey Leatherman carded a 78 (+7) and is tied for 18th place. Leatherman led the Texans with a dozen pars on the day.

Sophie Caldon is tied for 25th with a first-round score of 79 (+8) while Breanna Smith is in 35th with an 82 (+11).

Tarleton will begin the final round on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 8:30 a.m.
