FUNERAL SERVICES:  2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL:  Sardis Cemetery in Comanche County

VISITATION:   Family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Monday, October 21, 2019, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

LUNCH: 11:00 A.M. at Proctor Community Center

Freta Dunn, age 99, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Western Hills Healthcare Residence.  

She was born on October 31, 1919 in Comanche County, Texas to Russell A. Smith and Jennie (Richey) Smith. She married Owen Irvin Dunn in Gustine on November 25, 1939. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1989. She graduated from Gustine High School and was a great basketball player. Freta was a factory supervisor at Sidran’s Manufacturing for many years. Freta loved quilting at Proctor Community Center. She was a member of the Proctor Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook and on Sunday after church she had the entire family over for her famous fried chicken. She was an excellent seamstress and made clothing for the three girls. She was a great mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She is survived by her three daughters: Janette Weidner of Comanche; Beth Bruton and husband Walter of Clyde; Letha Northcutt and husband Ladoytt of Proctor: grandchildren: Jana Weidner of Austin; David Weidner of Houston; Barbi Nichols and husband Campbell of Abilene; Brandi Necessary and husband Jake of Abilene; Wes Bruton and wife Melissa of Abilene; Landon Northcutt and wife Jill of Stephenville; Lisa Martinez and husband Juan of Comanche; ten great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Jennie (Richey) Smith; son-in-law Charles E. Weidner; three brothers: Wiley Smith, Clarence Smith, Buford Smith and infant brother Orville Smith; five sisters: Esther Adcock, Thelma Williamson, Mae Kee, Neoma Kee and Bernice DeHart.
