Obituary for Maxine Shipp

Maxine Shipp, born in Caradan, Texas on September 28, 1921 to parents, John Lee and Myrtle (Obenhaus) Stewart, passed away on October 22, 2019 in Hico, Texas at age 98. Maxine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a devoted friend who loved those she came into contact with. She was a devoted member of the Hico Church of Christ. Maxine was a supporter of the Hico Activity Center.

Preceding Maxine in death were her parents, husband Wilbur Shipp, daughter Gail Andres, two sisters Wanda Swindler and Zelda Waldon, one brother, Johnny Dean Stewart and one grandson Wayne Garrett.

Surviving Maxine are daughter Joyce Garrett and husband Greg of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sons Tom Shipp and wife Ann of Plano, Texas, and Dwight Shipp and wife Linda of Austin, Texas, grandchildren Liz, Lisa, Vance, Crystal, Jonathan, and Holly. Maxine is also survived by eight great grandchildren, one great greatgrandchild, one sister, Dalma Brown of Dallas, Texas and one brother Alvis Stewart and wife Kathy of San Antonio, Texas.

The family of Maxine Shipp requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cherokee Children’s Home, Hico Church of Christ, Hico Activity Center or to another charity of your choice.

Service Information

There will be visitation from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, and from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Friday, October 25, at the Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 25, at the Hico Church of Christ. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery.
