Margaret Slaughter, age 81, of Hico passed away on November 12, 2019.
Margaret was born on October 14, 1938, in Snyder. She grew up in Snyder and Hico.

Margaret married the love of her life, Bruce Slaughter, in 1961. They lived a blessed 58 years together in Hico and raised their three ‘selected not expected’ (adopted) children; Kelli, Erik, and Cole.

Margaret served in the Hico Independent School system for over 20 years before retiring to travel 47 of the 50 states and spent precious time with her family.

Margaret was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and loved being “Granny” to her grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Steve and Verma Parks, father and mother-in-law Elton and Lucille Slaughter, brother S.D. Parks, brother Ray Parks and his wife June, niece Teresa Knippers, and nephew Rick Parks.

Margaret is survived by her beloved husband Bruce Slaughter, daughter Kelli Montgomery of Granbury, son Erik Slaughter and wife Shawna of Flower Mound, and son Cole Slaughter and wife Carla of Granbury. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and five nieces and nephews also survive her. Margaret was adored by her family and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Glen Rose Nursing and Rehab Center and the Hico Activity Center.

Family and friends will gather at the Hico Harvest Funeral Home, 118 Second Street on Friday, November 15th for Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16th at the Hico Church of Christ at 301 N. Pecan Street. Interment will follow in Hico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Hico Activity Center.
