STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton Volleyball, the reigning regional champions, will enter the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament ranked No. 7 for the second straight week in the NCAA South Central Regional Rankings.

The Texans are getting hot at the right time, as they closed the regular season out with wins in eight of their last nine matches to improve their overall record to 20-10 – the sixth straight 20-win season for the Texans. The Texans are 20-10 against Division II opponents and 16-7 against in-region squads.

The top eight in the region remained the same from last week. Regis sits atop the rankings for the third straight week with Angelo State seeded No. 2. Colorado School of Mines (3), Texas A&M-Commerce (4), Arkansas-Fort Smith (5), West Texas A&M (6), and Metro State (8) round out the top eight. Dixie State (9) and St. Edward’s (10) are on the outside looking in for the postseason.

The top eight teams in the regional rankings at the end of conference tournament championship weekend will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. The conference tournament champions are guaranteed an automatic berth into the playoffs, which could affect the rankings if a non-regionally ranked team wins their respective tournament and earned the berth.

The South Central region is comprised of the Lone Star Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The regional tournament will be played at the home gym of the highest seed from Dec. 5-7. The national tournament is scheduled for Dec. 12-14 at the Auraria Event Center in Denver, Colorado.

Tarleton will open the Lone Star Conference Championship tournament as the No. 4 seed against No. 5 seed West Texas A&M on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. in Commerce at the Field House.
