STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton women’s tennis is set to begin their first season under new leadership in nearly two decades when the Texans take the court in January, but they’ll also do so with one of the nation’s top performers – Alicia Barbaroux.

Barbaroux, a senior from Marseille, France, was named the No. 35-ranked singles player in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in their first poll of the season. She is also the No. 3-ranked player in the South Central region.

“I’m extremely proud of Alicia,” said first-year head coach Elianne Douglas-Miron. “I’ve seen the type of hard work she’s put in over the last three years (during time as an assistant coach) and I’m glad to see her getting the recognition she deserves. I believe she’s going to have a fantastic senior season.”

Barbaroux is a three-time All-LSC selection and was the first non-senior player in program history to be named the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year following an unbeaten run through league play as a sophomore in 2018.

Tarleton Women’s Tennis will open the season at home against Texas Wesleyan on January 31 at 3 p.m.
