FUNERAL SERVICES:  10:00 A.M. Monday, December 2, 2019, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL:  Union Cemetery in Comanche County.

VISITATION:  3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Comanche Funeral Home.

LUNCH:  Lunch for the family will be at First Baptist Church of Gustine following the funeral services.

Robert Harvey Hurt passed away early Saturday morning, November 30, 2019, at home with the love of his life, Pammie.

On September 12, 1954, he was born at home to J.W. “Red” and Velma Hurt in the Creamer Community of Comanche County, Texas.

Robert was a graduate of Gustine High School.  He married his high school sweetheart Pam Kirkland, on December 26, 1975.

On February 24, 1979, he was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Kay, and with her they stopped at perfect.

Robert was a man of many trades. He spent years as a truck driver and a custom farmer with Elizabeth as his top hand. He was an exceptional craftsman with woodwork and cabinetry, and was also an avid knife and gun collector. Robert loved music, he enjoyed playing with many friends, whether it was a live performance or sitting in a circle pickin’ and grinnin’.  He also had a passion for baking.  You could find him sitting at the kitchen table making sweets for any holiday, but especially when it came time for the annual Gustine Homecoming Bake Off.

Robert was a man who would do anything for anyone and would give you the shirt off his back. He was an all-around good guy with a huge heart.

Robert is survived by his wife, Pam Hurt of Gustine; daughter, Elizabeth Diaz and husband Rudy of Comanche, granddaughter, Sydnee Diaz of Comanche; grandson, Twister Diaz of Comanche; his dog, Lucky of Gustine; sister, Martha Dobyns and husband Donnie of Georgetown; brother, Bill Byrum and wife Dora of Comanche; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. “Red” Hurt and Velma (Hall) Hurt; five sisters: Jean Walker, Velda Stapp, Linda Shifflett, Wanda Burns and Nila Ann Wright and one brother, Dub Hurt.
