B.J. (Joe) Hallmark

B.J. (Joe) Hallmark was born to Wallace and Willie Hallmark in Dublin, Texas on April 26, 1929.

Joe started school in the Shiloh community and later attended Dublin High School where he met the love of his life, Judy Underwood. They shared much of the community history and both came from Christian homes. They married on May 27, 1950 beginning a 70 year adventure of sharing their love with one another through joys, tears, and accomplishments. Together they had three children: Suzy, Donna, and Phillip.

Joe’s work experience included various jobs but most years were spent in the oil well logging industry. Companies included Schlumberger from 1952 to 1962; Charlene Oil Well Services from 1962 to 1966; Gearhart Owen/Halliburton from 1966 to his retirement in 1991.

After retirement, Joe designed and built their home in Granbury, Texas. He had several interests and hobbies including raising chickens and domestic birds, beekeeping, soap making, cooking, gardening, growing grapes and making wine among many others. He was also a member of the Granbury Master Gardeners.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Willie Hallmark, his brothers Gerald Hallmark and Harold Hallmark, and his grandson Jason Starnes.

Joe is survived by:

Wife: Judy Hallmark of Granbury, Texas.

Children: Suzy Hallmark of Granbury, Texas.

Donna Hallmark Morse/Terry Morse of Corvallis, Oregon.

Phillip Hallmark/Judy Hardwick of Austin, Texas.

Grandchildren: T.J. Gillespie/Lacey Cdebaca of Long Beach, California.

Lettie Morse Buys/Ryan Buys of Corvallis, Oregon.

Lyndie Morse of Wilsonville, Oregon.

Shae Hallmark of Manchaca, Texas.

Great-grandson: Atticus Gillespie of Long Beach, California.

Memorial service will be held at the Granbury Church of Christ on January 11, 2019 at 11:00 am.
