LUBBOCK – Tarleton track and field officially opened up the 2020 season Friday evening at the Texas Tech Corky Classic with two first-place and 24 top-10 finishes. Freshman Jenna Brazeal and senior Michael Simcho broke the program records for the 1000-meter race in their respective fields.

Simcho placed ninth in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:33.98, surpassing Stefan Campos’ 2015 record by 5.73 seconds (2:39.71). Mikel Stone flirted with the program’s 200-meter record, finishing .1 second behind Gilson Umunnakwe’s 2016 record of 21.75.
