Women Stay at No. 11, Men Move to No. 12 in USTFCCCA Regional Poll

NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Tarleton track and field programs were ranked in this week’s South Central Regional Poll by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The women stayed at No. 11 with 82.41 points. UC-Colorado Springs of the RMAC earned the top spot with 458.60 points.

The men moved to No. 12 with 108.71 points. Colorado School of Mines of the RMAC earned the top spot with 346.92 points.

Tarleton competed at the Pittsburg State Invitational on February 1st in Pittsburg, Kansas. The Texans recorded 12 top-10 finishes during the meet.

Kylee Ponder broke the program record in the 400m dash. The junior placed fifth with a time of 57.15. The previous school record, set by Jasmine Owens in 2016, was 57.56.

Senior Anterius Brown hit an NCAA provisional mark in the 400m and with the 4×400 relay team, which included Mikel Stone, Brandon McKissick, and Alan Palmer. Brown posted a 48.01 to finish fifth in 400m (PV mark: 48.51). The 4×400 team placed fifth with a time of 3:15.93 (PV mark: 3:16.77).

In the track events, the Texans had eight top 10 finishers, four females and four male runners. Three women and one male finished in the top 10 of the field events on Saturday.

Next up, the Texans will travel to Houston to compete at the Howie Ryan Invitational. The event will take place in the Yeoman Fieldhouse on Friday, February 14th.
