STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton’s Mackenzie Hailey has been named one of five women’s basketball players from the South Central region to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. Hailey was voted onto the team by sports information directors from across the country.

Academic All-District honorees advanced to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced in March.

The 2019-20 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Hailey has already graduated with her bachelor’s degree and is pursuing her master’s degree. Hailey is a four-year starter for the Tarleton Women’s Basketball team and is averaging a team-leading 15.8 points and 7.0 rebounds. Hailey, a WBCA All-American, has also been named LSC All-Academic, a member of the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll and a Tarleton Student-Athlete of the Month during her career. The Burleson native is also second on Tarleton’s all-time scoring list with 1,793 career points.

Hailey and the Texans are 19-5 on the season and will host St. Mary’s on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 5:30 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
