Stephenville High School has named Joshua Cogburn, Melissa (Simpson) Hinga, and Brock Holt as its 2020 Distinguished Alumni recipients and will hold a reception at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the SHS foyer. Anybody from the community is welcome to attend.
Cogburn and Hinga will give advice to current SHS students at the school’s Career Day on Friday, March 6. Holt will be unable to attend in person and will send a video for the students.
Joshua Cogburn, 2001
- Texas A&M University Graduate – Cum Laude
- Registered Architect in the states of Texas and Colorado
- Project Architect for the expansions and renovations at Stephenville High School and Gilbert Intermediate School as part of the 2018 Bond Program.
Melissa (Simpson) Hinga, 1986
- Scientist and Manager with hybrid rice seed company RiceTec, Inc.
- Inventor on multiple patents developing herbicide tolerant rice
- Leader in volunteer service and community outreach at work, through church and with social service organizations
Brock Holt, 2006
- 2013 and 2018 World Series Champion
- 2015 American League All-Star
- 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 Roberto Clemente Award Nominee
