Texans fall in series opener with Oklahoma Christian

STEPHENVILLE – Tarleton struggled to keep Oklahoma Christian off the board as the Texans suffered a 15-5 loss to the Eagles in the first game of a four-game series Friday.

Oklahoma Christian scored in eight of the nine innings, including a pair of four-run innings. Meanwhile, Tarleton scored three in the second on RBI base hits from Dean Frew, Tyler Fowler and Corey Young. Frew tacked on Tarleton’s final runs of the day with a two-run home run to right center.

Frew led the offense with a career day, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Fowler, Young, Cody Vannoy and Colby Ferris joined Frew with two-hit performances while Blake Burns added one. Justin Waltmon, Jon Law, Devon Patel and Tyler Averitt handled the duties on the mound.

Tarleton and Oklahoma Christian will return to action for a 1 p.m. doubleheader tomorrow.
