Coleman, McQuirter improve on national marks in Last Chance Meet

HOUSTON – Cornelius Coleman and Jasmine McQuirter each improved their national marks at the Fastrack Last Chance Qualifier at the University of Houston Saturday afternoon.

Coleman ran a season-best 8.08 in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles and an 8.40 in the finals. His 8.08 mark improved his previous mark by .04 seconds and he remains at No. 17 in the nation in the men’s 60m hurdles.

McQuirter improved her standing in the women’s 60 meter dash with a time of 7.65. Her .02-second improvement moves her from a tie for 50th in the nation to a tie for 39th in the nation ahead of the national qualifying announcement.

Kylee Ponder and the men’s 4×400-meter also competed in the event. Ponder finished first in the race with a time of 56.70 while the men’s team of Mikel Stone, Brandon McKissick, Anterius Brown and Colton Troutman finished their race in 3:16.93. However, neither were able to improve up their marks from the LSC Championships.

The NCAA Indoor National Championship Qualifiers will be announced on NCAA.com Tuesday.
