(June 20, 1939 – June 05, 2020)

On Friday, June 5, 2020, in the early morning hours, George Holt, loving husband, father and Papa, passed away at the age of 80.
George was born on June 20, 1939 in Gorman, TX to Toy and Wilda (Couch) Holt. George graduated high school in Deleon, Tx. In 1959, George enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 20 years and 22 days. George was home from boot camp when he met the love of his life, Beulah Stratton at the Peach and Melon Festival. As the story goes, he wooed her by filling her front yard with watermelons. After his tour in Alaska, the two were married on October 27, 1961 and raised
four children together – two sons and two daughters. The family moved around the world until SSGT Holt retired honorably in 1979 and settled in Dublin, TX.
George worked at the Dublin Dr. Pepper Bottling Plant until he took a position with Dublin ISD. During this time, he drove a bus route (in addition to his regular position) and spoke often of the joy he received through the interaction with his riders. George and Beulah were involved at DISD and made many trips, as chaperones, while their kids attended. George also loved to fish and was a talented woodworker. He also had a gift for “tinkering” and could fix nearly anything. George eventually retired
from DISD. Retirement did not sit well with him and he worked an additional 3 years at the Stephenville Walmart.
George was soft spoken and always had a smile on his face. His biggest joy was his family. He loved to hear his granddaughter sing and was proud his grandson decided to serve his country. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and two brothers, J.C. and Terry Holt. He is survived by his loving wife Beulah, his four children, Tony, Deborah, Diana, Edward and wife Bonnie, all of Dublin, grandchildren, Cheyenne Holt of Stephenville and A1C Sean Brinson who is currently stationed in Germany. He is also
survived by two sisters, Ruth Goates of Abilene, Judy Killebrew of Comanche, brother, Toy Wesley Holt of Ft. Worth, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all.

Memorials can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at New Dublin Live Oak in Dublin, Texas.
