STEPHENVILLE — Tarleton State University has named Sabra Guerra interim Vice President for the Division of Institutional Advancement. She replaces Dr. Kyle McGregor, tapped by the National Farm Life Insurance and American Farm Life Insurance Co. as its next President.
A Tarleton graduate with a degree in communications, Guerra has worked for the university since 1989. She joined the Division of Institutional Advancement in 1992, advancing to Director of Development in 2006 and Assistant Vice President five years later.
“Sabra is a gifted professional with strong relationship-building skills,” said Tarleton President James Hurley. “I have every confidence she will continue to strengthen our connections with alumni, friends and community. She has a deep appreciation for our vision to be an institution of opportunity for all students and a commitment to build a culture of philanthropy to make it possible. ”
As part of Tarleton’s leadership team, Guerra will provide strategic oversight to advancement services, alumni engagement, university event management, and opportunities for development, giving and fundraising. She also will oversee Tarleton’s W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas in Thurber and the Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Educational Center in Granbury.
“I am grateful for the confidence President Hurley and Dr. Kyle McGregor have in me to help provide steadiness in our division as we conduct a national search for a new leader,” she said. “This is an exciting time for Tarleton, and I am surrounded by an amazing group of professionals. I look forward to this new adventure.”
