Local man arrested for break-ins

August 28, 2020 – In a joint investigation with the Erath County Sheriff’s Office, Stephenville Police Department and Dublin Police Department, officers conducted a warrant service on a home on County Road 304 where William Gregory Owens Jr. was taken into custody.  Owens was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant. Information was posted asked the public for help identifying the burglary suspect that broke into several buildings and business’ throughout Erath County in the early morning of August 26.

After law enforcement received numerous anonymous tips saying the burglar was Owens, the above listed agencies along with Texas DPS arrested Owens for his outstanding warrant. Owens was questioned by investigators and after other interviews it was determined that Owens would be charged with Theft of an ATM Machine, more than $300,000 and Theft of Property, more than $2,500, enhanced. More charges could be pending for Owens. He was booked into the Erath County Jail and his bond is currently at $75,000.
