SHS Cross Country take first in girls, second in boys

The varsity Cross Country team from Stephenville High School traveled to Burleson on Friday, Sept. 11, for their second meet of the season.

The girls’ team took first place overall in the Burleson meet. Team members placed as follows:Amiah Rodriguez 1st, Seren Fowler 2nd, Lila Richards 3rd, Marisa Otero 4th, Ansley Meza 6th and Kenna Cashon 23rd.

The boy’s team took second place overall. Team members placed as follows: Mitchell Pack 3rd, Eduardo Juarez 4th (Juarez also set a personal record for the second week in a row), Cullin Rumsey 8th, Daniel Osornio 11th, Miguel Moreno 17th (also a personal record) and Cody Miller 18th.

“I’m extremely proud of our efforts this week at Burleson, almost everyone went out and ran better times,” said head coach Beth Phillips. “What I am most impressed about with us this week is how we ran closer together.  Last week there were some big gaps between some of our places and we talked all week about how we need to bridge those gaps.”

Next week the Stephenville teams will travel up US 67 to the Glen Rose Invitational.
