Obituary

Donald A Featherston went to be with the Lord and the Love of His Life Nelda Jean Featherston on September 12, 2020.

Don was born in Vernon, Texas on February 3, 1937 to parents Truman Cecil Featherston and Viola Mae Featherston.

Don married the Love of his Life Nelda Jean Myers on August 9th 1958. He served in the US army from 1960 to 1966.

Don and Nelda were married for 62 years and in those 62 years they had 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Don was a very loving and selfless man. Him and Nelda moved to Hico in 1967 and bought a farm. He had a dream of having something to pass along to his children, so he would often go without to make sure that dream of the farm was a success. He was a very hard-working man and a jack-of-all trades. He worked cattle, operated heavy equipment, planted crops and hay, he could do it all, all while working a full-time job.

Don was loving known by his family as “Pop”. He loved his children and grandchildren with a special kind of love that only a Pop could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Truman Junior Featherston, and his loving wife, Nelda. He is survived by his daughter Connie Cox & her husband Dale, his son Gary Featherston, his daughter Jan Davis and her husband Brian. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Courtney and her husband Stephen and their 3 children, Luke, Jaxson and Xavier. Tony and his wife Julie and their child Skylar. Keith and his wife Brittany and their child Keslie. Chris and his wife Lily and their children Cayson, Mason and Asa. Jared and his wife Hailee and their children Samuel and Jaicee. Casey and her husband Shylo and their child Kye.

Service Information

Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at the Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, in the Hico Cemetery.
