Stephenville jumped out to a 38-19 lead before Salado ripped off 42 straight points as the Eagles took command in the third quarter and never looked back in a 61-45 win over the Yellow Jackets.
The Eagles stuck to the ground game, and their Slot-T offense was devastating with more than 600 yards rushing. The two teams almost evenly split the time of possession, but the Jackets stalled out on four straight second-half possession as Salado kept making big plays.

Jacket quarterback Gavin Rountree followed up Kason Phillips’ first-quarter score with four touchdown passes. Rountree found Reece Elston on a 13-yard strike; hit Trace Morrison for 13 and 66-yard touchdowns, and a 16-yarder to Phillips.
Corbin Poston snuck in a field goal before Rountree’s fourth touchdown, and his PATs along the way led to the 38-10 lead by the Jackets.

The second half was a different story as Stephenville punted on four straight possessions, and Salado responded with score after score.
The loss drops Stephenville to 1-2 on the season, and things don’t get any easier for the Jackets as they travel to Melissa next week. The Cardinals are 3-0 on the year and handed Pottsboro a 51-17 loss.
