Charlene Walker Thurman, 80, of Stephenville, gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 in Stephenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 22nd at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Williams officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Nona Charlene Walker was born on June 12, 1940 in Stephenville to the late Charles R. ‘Sleepy’ and Vieta Cox Walker. She graduated from Stephenville High School, class of 1958. Charlene married Troy Gene Thurman on November 30, 1956 in Dublin. Troy preceded her in death November 9, 1996. Charlene loved Tarleton athletics, especially Tarleton Texan football. She had her reserved seats in the stadium, and attended every home game. She was a member of the Johnsville Church of Christ, and a dedicated 32 year employee of Tarleton State University. Charlene loved good country music, and loved being with her many friends, and family.
Charlene is survived by her three sons, Danny Thurman and Ronnie Thurman of Friday Harbor, Washington, and Tracy Thurman of Stephenville; grandchildren, Jessica Taylor of Fort Worth, Megan and husband Mondrae Ingram of Stephenville, and Melissa Thurman of Friday Harbor, Washington; great grandchildren, Mondrae II and Morghan Ingram of Stephenville; uncle and aunt, Wiley and Sandra Cox of Stephenville; and her nephew, Charles and wife Erin Simons of Burleson; and many many loving cousins.
