No. 12 Stephenville had a bit of a bobble in the second set but quickly got back on path with a 25-14, 25-22, 25-11 road sweep of Glen Rose Tuesday.

Stephenville is currently in tied for first-place with Brownwood in District 6-4A, and will be taking on Copperas Cove Saturday as Coach Shay Douglas has elected to keep her troops razor sharp rather than take a bye.

Against Glen Rose, Stephenville had it’s full starting lineup for the first time in several matches as junior Kaylee Matthews returned to action.

Depending on the choices Douglas makes prior to a match, Stephenville’s starting rotation actually includes seven players with Jaydi Griffin, Landri Withers, Emma Giddings, Kennedy Coffee, Cali Carter and Alee McClendon.

“It was good to get everyone back and healthy,” Douglas said. “We certainly got faster on our offense.”

Stephenville will need to avoid the injury bug the remainder of the regular season, and all eyes have suddenly turned to the Oct. 23 when the Brownwood Lady Lions come to town.

Brownwood upset Stephenville Oct. 6 and handed the Honeybees their first district loss. The winner of the Oct. 23 contest should be the district champion if both the Bees and Lady Lions win out.

Stephenville’s junior varsity Bees also came away with a win 25-22, 21-25, 25-17 and the freshmen were 25-23-25-14 winners. We have photos of the Bees and JV below.
