Juniors Landri Wither and Jaylee Matthews have been selected to play in the Texas Girls Coaches Associations All-Star volleyball game, making Stephenville the only school to place two players on the 2020 Blue squad.
“I am so proud of these young ladies,” Coach Shay Douglas said. “They are leaders on and off the court and are always striving to make us better as a team. Playing in the TGCA All-Star game is a fitting reward for the hard work they have put in every day.”

District 6-4A MVP Landri Withers is headed to the TGCA All-Star game.

Withers is a repeat selection as District 6-4A’s Most Valuable player and is described as “a do-it-all player” by Douglas.
“Her volleyball knowledge matches Landri’s athletic ability, and she puts herself in a position to make us successful,” Douglas said.

Kaylee Matthews is the District 6-4A Setter of the Year, but she’s also an attacker.

Matthews was also a superlative award winner picking up the District 4-A Setter of the Year award in 2020, and often appeared to have eyes in the back of her head with her ball positioning,.
“Jaylee is all about ‘court awareness’ with her setting,” Douglas said. “She faced the adversity of an injury and battled back from that. Our offense flows off of our sets, and of course, she can attack the defense herself.”
The date of the All-Star game was not announced on the TGCA website.
