Stephenville (10-2) gave a genuine team effort as the Jackets held Bridgeport to 14 first-half points and posted a 50-38 over the Bulls (9-4) and Gandy Gym Saturday.
Kelvin Ong and Grayson Traweek highlighted the first half with two three-pointers each as the Jackets nearly doubled up the score at half time 25-14. Kyle Styron worked hard for his game-high 13 points and netted seven of them in the first two quarters.
The Bulls resorted to sending Stephenville to the charity stripe in the second half, and Tanner McCailey made them pay for the tactic with seven of his 10 points coming at the line.
The Jackets hit 15-of-20 shots at the free-throw line, with Styron, Kallen Kimbrough, Traweek and Espinoza all adding to Stephenville’s figures.
Traweek was second in scoring for Stephenville with 12 points, McCailey 10, Ong 9, Espinoza 8, Kimbrough 6.
