After waiting a decade for another baby, Becky Jean was born to Buck and Sadie Durning in Pampa, TX on November 16, 1948.
Becky grew up in Skellytown, TX where she accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. She attended school in White Deer, TX and loved basketball. Her heart, however, was with riding horses and barrel racing with friends far and wide throughout the Texas Panhandle.
Becky formed a country music band and toured throughout Texas, performing with Little Jimmy Dickens, Ray Price, Gene Price and several popular local musicians. She and the band decided to head to Nashville, TN where her talent surfaced and her song “That’s All That Matters” was recorded. It made the top 10 in seven states.
Frank Hobson’s music aspirations also led him to Nashville where he and Becky met. They were married in 1969 and performed across the USA and Canada for many years. In 1975, the duo recorded “A Truer Love You’ll Never Find”, which can be found online through YouTube and Stax Country.
Frank and Becky were ready for a family but knew having a family on the road would be difficult. They moved to Skellytown, TX and welcomed Jenny JoJean into their arms in August 1979. They enjoyed rodeoing as a family and moved to Hico, TX in 1989 where they met many lifelong friends. Life was good until Frank passed from his battle with cancer in 2002.
Becky remained in Hico and married Jimmy Robertson in 2003. Both enjoyed their love for schnauzers, grandson Eli (the apple of their eye), the ranch, and entertaining friends and family with food and games.
On December 30, 2020, surrounded by family and friend, Noel Martin, Becky peacefully passed away from this world into the arms of her Lord and Savior.
Becky is survived by husband, Jim; daughter Jenny Senter and husband Scott Senter; grandson, Eli Senter; sister, Amy Clemens-Cooper; nieces, Dana Hawk and DeAnn Piper; two great nieces, Candyce Piper and Victoria Piper; great nephew Vance Hawk and wife Kealy Hawk.
Preceding her death were her husband, Frank Hobson and parents, Sadie and Buck Durning.
Service Information
Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 4, at Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 4, in the Black Family Cemetery in Hico.
