ARLINGTON – Tarleton Baseball dropped their midweek matchup 14-1 against UTA at Globe Life Field.

Blake Burns recorded the first hit of the day with a single in the top of the sixth, while Tyler Fowler recorded the only RBI on a sacrifice fly scoring Kemuel Thomas-Rivera, who led off the inning with a walk and moved to third when walks loaded the bases. The Texans got back-to-back singles in the seventh inning from Jordan Parker and Fowler looking to extend the game, but the Texans couldn’t push any more runs across.

Tarleton had a show stopping play in the bottom of the fifth when London Green made a diving catch in right field to stop UTA runners from advancing.

Five arms took the hill for Tarleton. Zach Poe and Sid Payan combined for 2.1 innings of relief allowing only one run each – Payan’s run was unearned. Poe recorded Tarleton’s only strikeout of the afternoon.

Tarleton will take on the Aggies of Texas A&M tomorrow Feb. 23 in College Station. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on SECN+.
