No. 17 Lingleville faces its most daunting opponent of the season as the Cardinals travel to Glen Rose for a 6 p.m. Class 1A regional semifinal game against No. 2 Graford Tuesday.
Since the start of the high school basketball season, Class 1A fans have been focused on the result of the first game of the year between No. 1 Slidell and No. 2 Graford.
Slidell’s Greyhounds ran down Jack Rabbits 77-76 on Graford’s home court and now tout a glittering 26-3 record on the year. Graford rebounded from that loss to a 22-2 record, with the Rabbits’ only other loss coming on the road against Class 4A’s No. 18 Glen Rose 62-55.
Lingleville’s basketball season started on a sour note, with the Cardinals dropping five of their first seven games. Following a 88-86 double-overtime loss to Class 3A Dublin, things turned a corner for Lingleville, and the Cardinals went on a 15-game winning streak to end the regular season.
That winning streak ended when the Cardinals went and found a quality tune-up game against No. 17 Westbrook, but at the same time, it showed Lingleville what it needs to accomplish to get to the next level.
Tickets are $5 at the gate.
