RUSTON, La. – It may be considered a cliché, but right now, it’s the goal of Tarleton Softball – if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.

Tarleton Softball played yet another game against a national powerhouse from the Big XII and pushed the Lady Bears to the brink of defeat behind a masterful pitching performance by Tristan Bridges. The sophomore southpaw threw all six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four.

Bridges went pitch for pitch against Baylor’s Aliyah Binford, who allowed just three hits. Katy Schaefer, Jordan Dickerson and Morgan Medford recorded the base hits for Tarleton.

Schaefer and Hallie Saintignan were named to the all-tournament team for their efforts on the weekend.

Tarleton will hit the road Wednesday for a doubleheader against Prairie View A&M at 1 p.m.
