Texans outlast Redhawks and take game one in Seattle

SEATTLE – The Texans struck first tonight putting up a run in the top of the 1st before the Redhawks tied it up. The game was tied 2-2 going into the 9th where the Texans plated two runs and took the game one win in Seattle 4-2.

Alex Pinedo had a standout night on the mound going a full eight innings while only allowing nine hits and two runs while striking out six Redhawks. AJ Wood came in to close out the game recording his fourth save and striking out one.

Kemuel Thomas-Rivera led the Texans tonight with a game high two RBI. He got the Texans on the board first in the first inning when he reached on a throwing error recording his first RBI of the game.

Seattle brought one run across in the 2nd and 5th innings on a solo home run and a triple. The Texans remained scoreless after their first run in the top of the 1st until the 8th when Colby Seltzer doubled to right center scoring Wade Raburn from second. The Texans and Redhawks were tied at two heading to the 9th.

Tarleton led off the inning with a single from Spencer Bloom to left field before London Green reached on a throwing error and moved Bloom to third. Bryan Aguilar with a sacrifice bunt brought in Bloom and the Texans took the lead. Thomas-Rivera continued the scoring for the Texans as he recorded his second RBI of the day on a single to centerfield that brought in Green from second.

After Wood struck out the leadoff batter for the Redhawks the Texans defense shut down the next two batters for a 1, 2, 3 inning and the game one win.

Five Texans recorded hits tonight with Blake Burns and Seltzer each recording doubles. Raburn had the only stolen base of the game while Tyler Fowler, Raburn, Bloom and Green each recorded a run.

The Texans are back in action against the Redhawks tomorrow as they play a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
