Texans split Saturday twin bill with Redhawks

SEATTLE – Texans fell in the first game of today’s double header 2-3 but bounced back in game two and defeated the Redhawks 6-5.

Game 1: Seattle U 2, Tarleton 3

A pitcher’s duel between Luke Baley and Alex Jemal for game one of today’s doubleheader left both teams with limited hits and only a few runs across.

Seattle U had had a three-run home run in the bottom of the first to give them their only three runs of the day, as Baley was able to silence the Redhawks offense for the remainder of the game.

Tarleton went quietly in the first two innings before they were able to get two across in the 3rd. A leadoff single from Dean Frew got things started in the 3rd before Spencer Bloom reached on a throwing error and London Green walked to load the bases. Bryan Aguilar was issued a walk that brought in Frew from third for the first run of the inning. The second run came across after a double play was able to allow Bloom to score from third.

The Texans out hit the Redhawks in game one 6-4 but it was Seattle U who took the win.

Wade Raburn had a game high two hits as he went 2-for-3 on the day, while Bryan Aguilar recorded the only RBI of the day.

Game 2: Tarleton 6, Seattle U 5

The Texans kicked things off first in game two with three runs in the second and were quickly answered by the Redhawks who scored three in the bottom of the 3rd. The Texans and Redhawks went run for run until the 6th inning when the Texans brought two home and Seattle could only get one across.

The first run came from a sacrifice fly from Ian Groves bringing in a run before Dean Frew was able to score on a balk and an RBI single from Bryan Aguilar brought in the last run of the inning. Aguilar led the second game for the Texans going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, 2 walks and a stolen base on the day.

Another run came across in the 3rd when Dean Frew reached on a fielder’s choice and brought in Blake Burns to score.

Nothing came across for the Texans in the 4th and 5th innings but 2 run 6th inning put the Texans in the lead and they carried that lead to the 9th. A double from London Green plated the first run in the 6th followed by a single from Aguilar that plated the second run and was his second RBI of the game.

Green had a game high two doubles with Blake Burns recording the other double of the game. Three Texans had a stolen base today Aguilar, Frew and Green. Burns and Green also had a multi-hit game with each of them recording two hits with Green accounting for a game high two runs with one RBI.

Bryce Hackett went 5.1 innings in the second game recording 2 strikeouts and recording his first win of the year. Justin Waltmon came in to relieve Hackett going 2.2 innings striking out two, only allowing one hit and not allowing a run to come across. AJ Wood closed out the game going one inning and recording his 5th save of the year.

The Texans close out the series with the Redhawks tomorrow with a season finale beginning at 2 p.m. CT.
