Khaw tied for second, Texans in sixth after first day of ORU Spring Invite

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Tarleton Women’s Golf is in sixth place after 36 holes at the Oral Roberts Spring Invite at The Club at Indian Springs.

The Texans had rounds of 308-321 for a score of 629 (+61). Tarleton is one stroke behind Stephen F. Austin for fifth place through two rounds. Arkansas-Little Rock leads all teams with a 588 (+20). As a team, Tarleton posted 94 pars and seven birdies through 36 holes.

Khaw is tied for second place on the individual leaderboard as the senior carded a 146 (+4) and is seven strokes off the lead held by Brooke Newell of Missouri State (139, -3). Khaw had rounds of 71 and 75 on the day. In the opening round, Khaw shot 3-under on the front nine with no bogeys. Her 24 pars rank second among the field and she also added four birdies to lead the Texans. Khaw has placed in the top 10 in all three tournaments this season. Khaw also ranks second amongst the field on Par 4 scoring, shooting even par on the day.

After winning the PVAMU Invitational last tournament, Alejandra Cambronero continued her momentum on Monday with a first-round score of 77 and finished the day with a 158 (+16) to tie for 26th. Cambronero had 21 pars, the second most on the team for the day.

Sofia Rodriguez is right behind Cambronero in 29th after recording a 78-82—160 (+18). Rodriguez posted 17 pars and two birdies after 36 holes.

Beatrice Grise shot a 165 (+23) and is tied for 33rd after carding rounds of 82-83. Grise had 16 pars in the two rounds. Marianella Moreschi shot a 171 (+29) with rounds of 85-86.

Tarleton will tee off in the final round on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CST.
